Abstract
The molting pattern of the adult silver fox can be divided into 20 distinct steps or stages. Assignment of a numerical value to each stage makes it possible to present the results graphically. When the molting process is thus broken down, a comparison of the step-by-step progress of different exptl. groups can be made. The molting pattern followed is distinct but there are many individual variations from that pattern. There was a slight but distinct tendency for adult vixens, that had undergone oopherectomies the previous spring, to prolong one of the earlier stages of the molting cycle beyond the time normally required by avg. foxes. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
