Abstract
Intraperitoneal injection of 6 mg/kg body weight dimethylnitrosamine (DMN) once weekly for 10 weeks to male and female Swiss mice resulted in a statistically significant increase in the incidence of vascular tumors, mainly in the retroperitoneum, in females. There was a low incidence of hepatic vascular tumors in both sexes. Histologic patterns of vascular tumors are described and the possible mechanisms involved in this sex-related carcinogenic response of blood vessels to DMN are discussed. Keywords
