Abstract
The reaction of hemoglobin S with the N-carboxyanhydride of glutamic acid produces modified hemoglobin S. The solubility and electrophoretic mobility of the modified hemoglobin S are augmented in proportion to the number of added glutamic acid residues. The possibility of modifying (trans-forming) hemoglobin S within the red blood cell is indicated. This publication has 16 references indexed in Scilit:
