The regimen of Salerno, a contemporary analysis of a medieval healthy life style program

Abstract
An analysis is made of the Regimen of Salerno, the most important medieval Western healthy life style program. The discussion so far about its origins is summarized, its roots in humoral pathology investigated and its significance and functioning analyzed by using different con-temporary scientific models (positivistic medicine, holism, and sociological theories about transformations of reality). A proposal for further scientific research has been formulated.
