Abstract
Various concretionary limestones near the Oligocene-Miocene boundary in the French Central Massif are built predominantly by the activity of cyanophycean algae. The structure, which macroscopically appears very diverse, is microscopically uniform, comparable to certain ancient and modern stromatolites.
