Abstract
Nine mature plant characters not previously found in sorghum have been produced by X-radiation. These characters, zebra stripe, midget, yellow leaf tip, fired leaf, mottled leaf, two red leaf, freckled leaf, and a dwarf, are described. These characters have all been found to be inherited as simple recessives, with deficiencies of recessive homozygotes in several cases. A total of 72 recessive mutations, each deleterious in effect, consisting mostly of common seedling chlorophyll deficient types, were induced. Although favorable material in which to detect a progressive mutation was X-rayed, no progressive mutations were produced. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
