Abstract
The Fery prism, first described in 1910, has been used in relatively few applications, all of these apparently being in spectrographs. The present paper describes the application of a borosilicate crown glass Fery prism as the dispersive element in a monochromator covering the spectral range from 320 mµ to 1000 mµ. Performance characteristics of the prism are given. A new Beckman spectrophotometer employing the Fery prism is described along with its performance characteristics. A novel wave-length control mechanism and a new slit device are described. Keywords
