Abstract
Not a panacea perhaps, but certainly an exciting advance in rehabilitative care. Reflex responses once used primarily as an aid to diagnosis can be conditioned to enable brain-damaged persons to control involuntary behaviors that, uncontrolled, lead to social isolation, loss of self-respect, and unhappiness. One of the first nurses to apply selected sensory stimulation techniques as adjunctive nursing measures describes some clinical applications and the rationale for them. Keywords
