Simultaneous Infections with Plasmodium berghei and Trypanosoma lewisi in the Rat

Abstract
Although single infections with either parasite are seldom fatal, 17 of 25 rats with simultaneous infections died. This is ascribed to the severe anemia which develops. The 2 parasites did not significantly alter each other''s course of infection.
