Abstract
Two of the statistical distributions used in evaluating the rupture of materials are ap plied to the breakage of a worsted yarn. The one, the Weibull distribution or third asymptotic distribution, is found to fit the observations better. From this it can be concluded that a power law holds between the average breaking strength and the length of yarn tested. The assumption of independence, on which the above distributions are based, is also tested.
