Abstract
The effect of estradiol dipropionate and testosterone propionate on exptl. B. abortus infection in male and female albino rats was studied. The animals were divided into 3 groups: castrates receiving hormone, untreated castrates, and untreated intact animals. The number of survivors 5 days after infection was used to determine the influence of the hormones on the resistance to the infection. Testosterone propionate significantly increased the resistance of the females and to a lesser degree that of the males. Estradiol dipropionate decreased the resistance of immature females and increased the resistance of mature males.
