Abstract
In preindustrial countries, during the weaning and post-weaning period, nutritional deficiencies and infection processes act synergistically. As a result, although perinatal, infant morbidity and mortality in these areas are higher than in the developed countries, the difference is even greater for the preschool-age children. Keywords
