Abstract
The effect of Pratylenchus penetrans (Cobb, 1917) Sher & Allen, 1953 on a clone of Fragaria vesca was investigated. In the presence of small numbers of P. penetrans, the net increase in the number of petioles, petiole length, and fresh weight was significantly less than that of the controls. It would appear by analogy that P. penetrans may well be an important primary parasite in the strawberry root-rot complex.
