Retrodihydrochalcones from Dracaena Loureiri

Abstract
The first four members of a new class of natural products, the retrodihydrochalcones, have been isolated from the leaves of Dracaena loureiri. The structures of the loureirins 1-4 [4''-hydroxy-2,4-dimethoxydihydrochalcone; 4''-hydroxy-2,4,6-trimethoxydihydrochalcone; 4,4''-dihydroxy-2-methoxydihydrochalcone; 4,6,4''-trihydroxy-2-methoxydihydrochalcone] were elucidated through interpretation of their spectroscopic data, with particular use being made of the selective INEPT nmr technique.
