Abstract
Scattered light produces spurious optical rotations of up to 80 milli degrees in commercial polarimeters. Even larger "rotations," up to 180 milli-degrees, are observed when the sample simultaneously absorbs and scatters light. These effects may account for the optical activity reported in the Orgueil meteorite. Keywords
