Abstract
A simple mechanical device has been constructed for the rapid simulation of magnetic bubble domain current-sheet devices. The device consists of a small ferrite magnet with a magnetic moment of 4.8 G·cm3, and layers of perforated aluminum films whose sizes match the diameter of the magnet. The magnet was placed in a light plastic boat, which was floated on the surface of a viscous fluid. A sequenced electric current of 0.1 A/cm was able to move the magnet at a speed of ∼0.1 cm/s. The outline of the device and experimental results showing the validity of the device are given.
