Abstract
The Hartree and Thomas-Fermi models of the atom and nucleus are compared in their predictions for the angular momentum distributions. It is found that the most natural quantity to compare is not the "first appearance" of a given orbital angular momentum, but the mean squared angular momentum. Keywords
