Abstract
The site distribution in CdF2:Eu3+ has been studied as a function of dopant concentration and annealing temperature by site selective spectroscopy. A total of 17 sites have been identified. Their behavior is very different from rare earth doped CaF2. The cubic site increases with Eu3+ concentration until clusters form after which it levels off. There are no sites attributed to associated rare earth–F′i. The anomalous behavior observed in CaF2 as a function of annealing temperature and dopant concentration is not observed. Keywords
