Abstract
Energy levels in the sd-shell are calculated for several different interactions to establish the usefulness of the fixed-JT averaging method (FJT) in the low-lying region by comparison with the results of the projected Hartree–Fock (PHF) method. It is found that, while the FJT errors are the largest near to the ground state, their absolute magnitudes are comparable to those of PHF.
