Abstract
Experience with a new trephine, the LM-trephine, for carrying out bone marrow biopsy is reported. This trephine is larger and stronger than most previously described instruments. Two main problems in bone marrow biopsy, compression and difficulty in obtaining specimens from osteoblastic (or sclerotic) metastases are overcome by the special design of the LM-trephine tip. Outpatients (310) with different tumor diseases were examined, and no complications were observed.
