Abstract

Cell-free preparations of the deacetoxycephalosporin C/deacetylcephalosporin C synthetase activities from Cephalosporium acremonium CO 728 were shown to convert the unnatural substrate methylenecephalosporin C (1) in the presence of ¹⁸O₂, into [hydroxy-¹⁸O]deacetylcephalosporin C (2b).
