Abstract
The pyrenoids vary in size with an average width of 3 [mu]. The crystal-like structure of the matrix appears either as a single array of parallel lines or as 2 intersecting sets of lines giving a criss-crossed appearance. There may be as many as 15 of these regions present in each pyrenoid and they are similar in structural appearance to the crystals found in higher plant chloroplasts. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
