Abstract
The reaction is represented by a matrix operating on the initial spin state on the assumption that the pion leaves only in - and -waves. This matrix is determined by five real parameters which may be experimentally determined by measurements of the different types of polarization of the outgoing deuterons and also of the asymmetry produced by incident polarized protons. Some effects of -waves on the latter are considered.
