Clinical experience with cefoxitin sodium in abdominal surgery

Abstract
Thirty hospital patients with various infections were treated with cefoxitin sodium. Twenty-two of these patients had abdominal infections, 26 patients were cured, and the remaining 4 responded satisfactorily. Two case histories are presented of patients previously treated unsuccessfully for severe septicaemia in whom cefoxitin proved to be life-saving. The effectiveness of cefoxitin is confirmed in the management of serious infections of the abdomen and of the biliary and renal tracts.
