Abstract
The effect of a cavity varnish on the retention of restorations was investigated by measuring the force needed to push restorations out of bottomless ivory cavities. The varnish lining decreased the retaining force of inlays by half, and slightly increased the retaining force of amalgam restorations. Keywords
