The Basis of Reflex Coordination

Abstract
This is a criticism of Weiss'' hypothesis of reflex coordination, which postulates qualitative differences in excitation of nerve fibers. This hypothesis is contrary to the known physiological characteristics of nerve conduction, especially its "all-or-none" character, and the limiting of the number of impulses through the refractory period. Coordination must depend on the central distribution of nerve impulses, not on peripheral selection.
