Abstract
The Water Quality Control Laboratory at Stanford University conducted a project on the feasibility of reclamation of reusable water from sewage. The objective of the project was to demonstrate that water can be reclaimed for beneficial use. Reclamation includes the removal of biodegradable organic matter, trace organics of an exotic nature, and phosphorus and nitrogen. Laboratory work was performed at Stanford University, and pilot plant work was done in cooperation with the city of Palo Alto, California. The pilot plant has been used to confirm the results of laboratory studies on tertiary treatment and to demonstrate the feasibility of wastewater renovation processes. Keywords
