Abstract
A general account is given of the theory of paramagnetic resonance in rare-earth crystals, assuming that the crystalline electric field splitting is less than the spin-orbit splitting. The treatment is related, as far as possible, to numerical parameters, which are sufficiently comprehensive for it to be a straightforward process to pass from a given crystalline field to the spin-Hamiltonian.Keywords
