Abstract
Five new species of Gyrodactylus are described, namely G. aphredoderi from Aphredoderus sayanus (Gilliams), G. gambusiae from Gambusia affinis (Baird and Girard), G. heterodactylus from Elassoma zonatum Jordan, G. percinae from Percina nigrofasciata (Agassiz), and G. protuberus from Notropis uranoscopus Suttkus. Comparative studies were made on G. bullatarudis Turnbull from Lebistes reticulatus Peters and on G. macrochiri Hoffman and Putz from Lepomis macrochirus Raf., Lepomis punctatus (Valenciennes) and Chaenobryttus gulosus (Cuvier). Lepomis punctatus and Chaenobryttus gulosus are reported as new hosts for G. macrochiri. All host fishes were collected from Alabama and Florida. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
