An Apparatus for Monitoring CO2Exchange Rates in Plants during SO2and O3Fumigation

Abstract
An apparatus is described for measuring photosynthetic CO2 assimilation, dark respiration, photorespiration and the CO2 compensation point by plant materials fumigated with the atmospheric pollutants SO2 and/or O3. This system uses an IR gas analyzer (IRGA) in a closed-loop system. SO2 is added from permeation tubes and O3 is generated by UV light. Regulation of fumigant concentration and scrubbing the fumigants from the system are described.
