Abstract
Zotikov reported in 1960 that large homografts in the rat survived for longer periods of time than small ones. Further studies by Bailey tended to confirm this finding and a postulation regarding overpowering the immune mechanism was made. Our experience with the Holtzman rat now shows evidence that homograft take was related to histocompatibility rather than to size. Application of large homografts from the Oklahoma King rat to the Holtzman rat resulted in no survival time beyond 12 days. Keywords
