GROWTH RATES OF Pacrobrachium rosenbergii GROWN IN PONDS IN SOUTH FLORIDA1

Abstract
Growth rates for Macrobrachium rosenbergii raised in ponds in south Florida are discussed. Maximum growth was exhibited by a brood reared in ponds from mid‐May to the end of November, 1975 (251 days total age). At the end of this period, the 331 animals that remained averaged 13.6 cm. in length and 31.0 gms. in weight. Growth rates are presented for other broods of shrimp including one raised to an age of 452 days. The growth of shrimp raised in south Florida is compared with published growth rates of shrimp raised in Hawaii.
