Abstract
The molar choline/P ratio of the cerebral lipids which are stable to mild alkaline and acid hydrolysis is less than unity, indicating that sphingomyelins are not the only phospholipids present. Part of this non-sphingomyelin lipid P is removed by initially precipitating the tissue lipids with tri-chloroacetic acid at room temp., a procedure which does not affect recovery of sphingomyelin.
