Abstract
An investigation was conducted to measure the wear and friction characteristics of fluorocarbons deposited on porous metal surfaces in the form of particulate sprays, dispersion coatings, dc-sputtered coatings, and resin-bonded coatings. The relative amounts of surface impregnation were compared using x-ray fluorescence in an electron microprobe. Experimental results indicate that a simple particulate infusion will provide a durable, low-wear, sliding surface for use in machine components. Keywords
