Abstract
It is surprising that little factual information is available about the distribution of the hearing loss levels of children being educated in special schools for the hearing impaired. This paper presents such distributions for selected groups of pupils out of a total sample of 5,016 children in schools for the hearing impaired in the British Isles. The discussion considers the effects of the factors of geographical location, type of school and age upon the distributions.
