Children and divorce: a review

Abstract
Although the number of divorces taking place in this country each year has climbed steadily, the special problems and needs of children of divorced couples have received relatively little professional attention. The authors discuss the emotional impact of divorce on children and adolescents and, after reviewing the literature and findings from their own five-year longitudinal study, describe the implications of the spiraling divorce rate for practice, research, and social policy.
