HEMANGIOMA OF JOINTS

Abstract
In 1939 Dr. George Bennett and I1 reviewed the 24 reported cases of hemangioma of the knee joint, and in adding 5 more proposed the use of roentgen therapy for tumors of the nonpedunculated type. Attempts at radical excision had proved unsatisfactory for this type of hemangioma. The purpose of this paper is to present 4 more cases of hemangioma of the knee joint and to bring out the fact that this tumor is not so rare that it should not be considered as a possibility in any differential diagnosis of swelling of the knee joint. Too often the diagnosis of early tuberculosis of the synovial membrane of the joint or of some minor injury to the joint is made.
