Abstract
The mechanism of a poor man's scaling as applied to the simplest spin 1/2 Kondo impurity is analysed in detail. Ambiguities concerning the nature of the effective Hamiltonian are clarified, especially near fixed points. Maximal use is made of symmetry and invariance arguments in determining the low temperature properties. Especially, potential scattering is shown to result in a uniform translation of phase shiftsKeywords
