Abstract
Cyclotella azigzensis sp. nov., is described from modern and fossil material in Lac Azigza, Middle Atlas Mountains, Morocco. The species is characterised by an absence of central processes and by the arrangement of the marginal fultoportulae. The distribution and ecology of C. azigensis is discussed, together with the potential value of this taxon in palaeo-environmental studies. Keywords
