Abstract
The quantum efficiency of the laser fluorescence technique decreases with increasing temperature. This paper reports detailed measurements of the decrease, for five different commercial oils. A comparison with the quantum theory of the decrease is presented. These results can be used to determine the degradation of a lubricant in the ring zone of a running engine, and to calibrate film thickness measurements on adiabalic engines. Keywords
