Abstract
“Regular” patrolling, whereby an operative tends machines according to a pattern, is compared with “irregular” patrolling where no definite order of attention is specified. Ancillary work, including walking time, is taken into account, and the two methods of patrolling are applied to winding machine production calculations, under conditions particularly favourable to regular patrolling. The methods of calculation adopted with irregular patrolling are those outlined by Benson, Miller and Townsend. Keywords
