Rubella: Epidemic in Retrospect

Abstract
The 1964 outbreak in Houston demonstrated the urgency of both immediate and continuing mobilization of the community's health resources to handle the long-range problems arising out of the long-term needs of the affected children. It also shed new light on the pathogenesis of congenital rubella and brought sharper definition to the concept of the “expanded” rubella syndrome.
