Elastofibroma Dorsi

Abstract
IN 1961 Järvi and Saxén1 reported 4 cases of a heretofore undescribed soft-tissue tumor, which they called elastofibroma dorsi. The tumors were all located in the subscapttlar space adjacent to the apex of the scapula and beneath the rhomboid and latissimus dorsi muscles. Microscopically, there were large bands of dense, collagen-containing, swollen, fragmented elastic fibers and scattered islands of adipose tissue. All the subjects were elderly, and despite the infiltrative nature of the lesion, there were no recurrences after surgery.Subsequently, 3 additional cases have been reported, all in elderly persons and in the same characteristic anatomic location.2 , 3 The present . . .
