The Frequency of Dicentrics in Human Leukocytes Irradiated in Vivo and in Vitro

Abstract
The frequency of dicentric chromosome production in irradiated leukocytes is directly proportional to the square of the dose. Also, it appears to be independent of the x-ray energy level and of the dose rate in vitro. The results indicate that the frequency induced in vivo can be a factor of 2 higher or lower than the frequency in vitro for the same dose of radiation.
