Electric Field Dependence of Elastic Properties of TaS3

Abstract
We have measured the electric field dependence of the Young's modulus and internal friction of orthorhombic TaS3. The modulus is observed to decrease by a few percent when the field exceeds εT, the threshold for non-Ohmic conduction. At the same field, the internal friction increases rapidly, saturating at ∼ 1% for fields ε>2εT.
