Abstract
The U.V, absorption spectra of the benzocycloalkenes n = 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and o-xylene were measured from 1200Å to 3000Å. A progressive decrease in absorptivity and a loss In structure of absorption band as ring size increased was observed. These observations are compared with the results of some previous studies and briefly discussed in terms of symmetry and density of vibranic states. Keywords
