A Survey of Canadian Populations of the House Fly for Resistance to Insecticides1

Abstract
The first-generation offspring of samples of Canadian house fly, Musca domestica L., populations were tested for resistance to various insecticidal chemicals, which were applied by a topical application method. All collections showed a high level of resistance to DDT, γ benzene hexachloride, and malathion; most also showed moderate resistance to ronnel. There was no evidence of any substantial degree of resistance to dichlorvos, though some collections were somewhat more tolerant than others.
