Abstract
There are few papers that deal specifically with evolutionary studies and proteomics. However, applying proteomics to these studies promises to open new perspectives apropos the construction of phylogenetic trees and the detection of evolutionary changes. Principles and methods of phylogenetic systematics could be used to compare and evaluate proteomes. This would permit the detection and characterization of specific proteins that have evolutionary value in defining monophyly, paraphyly, and polyphyly. Keywords
