Abstract
Cell-free filtrates from 3 different kinds of leukemic tisssues of the rat were injected in 4 different ways into tissues of new-born rats. All 3 filtrates showed a considerable leukemogenic effect in homologous experimental parts. The differentiation into the different hematologic forms appears to be completely independent of the initial leukosis used in the preparation of the filtrate. It is concluded that the leukemia virus carried over to the rat and active in it has the ability to attack the different cell types of the hematopoietic system in the sense of a malignant degeneracy.
