Abstract
The method of Tswett (Ber. Deutsch. Chem. Ges. 41, p.1352, 1908; 43, p.3199, 1910; 44, p.1124, 1911) is of great value for the fractionation of mixtures not easily separable by the usual technique, and can be also used for the separation of colorless mixtures as those of eryosterol and cholesterol, oleanol and oleanylen, dipalmitylketon and hentriakontan, etc. Activated and standardized aluminium oxide is the most useful adsorbent. By the use of cane sugar for adsorption chlorophyll a and b can be prepared from raw chlorophyll. The chromatographic absorption method is very useful to detect contaminations or the presence of decomposition products in and for the quantitative determination of chlorophyll. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
